Database and GIS Specialist

We are looking for a "Database and GIS Specialist" to work at our Gold Mine located in West Africa.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Must be very proficient in speaking and writing English, and in communicating in the local area’s dialect with data entry clerks.
• Be proficient in MS SQL or use of SQL through another program.
• Be proficient in a range of GIS software and data storage procedures.
• Have a high level of organisation skill.
• Be cost consciousness and have an ability to drive productivity improvement initiatives.
• Be able to react pro-actively to any deviations from planned activities.
• Have manpower management skills.
• Have a Computer Science, Engineering or Geospatial degree from a recognised tertiary institution.
• Have knowledge of Standard Query Language for data programming.
• Have a strong understanding of GIS software and ability to quickly pick up on site (Micromine/ESRI ArcGIS).
• Be experienced with drone flight, survey tools and Pix4D software.

Experiance:

• Must be fully proficient in MS software and have 2 - 5 years’ experience developing databases.
• Have experience in geology and/or mining for a period of at least 2 years.
• Have experience with database set ups using MS Access, SQL or similar.
• Have 2 – 5 years in GIS software (ESRI ArcGIS) and open source datasets.
• Be familiar and have experience on drill planning, mining and production data storage.
• Have experience with Sentinel and Landsat satellite imagery and spatial analysis, raster datasets, band analysis
• Should be eligible to obtain relevant statutory qualifications.
• Have previous experience with drone operations and camera requirements advantageous.
• Have the attributes to be able function independently as the only Database Administrator on site.
