Role Summary/Purpose:

GE Hydro is a tier 2 business with € 1,5 Bn of sales and a global headcount of 6500. The Global Sourcing organization of the business is structured around commodities: forging, casting, raw materials, welded structures… for each commodity, there are commodity buyers reporting to one commodity leader.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Commodity Buyer contributes to implement the sourcing strategy, and: •Optimizes, communicates & implements a competitive Global Sourcing strategy •Purchases materials, products and services for Hydro Power projects in accordance with QCD requirements •Monitors & Improves Suppliers & Sourcing performance in Operations (Total Cost of ownership, Delivery, and Quality, Service level & Innovation) •Assesses supplier performance. •Teamwork with the Commodity Buyers in other regions under leadership of the Global Commodity Leader of his/her commodity •Provide inputs and requirements from her/his Region •Takes part to strategy definition under the lead of the Global Commodity Leader •Sources goods and services with best suppliers and develop the suppliers' panels in the Region •Negotiates T&C/Price lists (LTFA )/open PO and implement SRM with these suppliers •Prepares forecast & backlog for her/his commodity •Supports development of best assumptions in tendering and product activities: •Price lists, costing tools, TBOMs update, Vendor list, issuance of specific RFQ if necessary, … •Supports risk & opportunities reviews with the TSC •Supports commodity co-design, standardization and rationalization actions in the Region •Set Purchase Order in the ERP system and ensure follow up. •Makes the discussions with suppliers during execution in case of claims, PO changes in coordination with the Regional Procurement Officer (RPO)...

Qualifications/Requirements:

•Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering , Master's degree preferred. •Minimum 5 years of experience in Sourcing and/or Site works •Management, dealing with industrial activities and technical commodities •Fluent English is mandatory & French can be nice to have •Aptitude to work in a global environment and matrix organization •Negotiation skills •Good communication & influencing skills •Experience in supplier selection & development •Experience in Site activity in hydro Electric Power Plant Construction & commissioning / Craft labor and refurbishment.

Desired Characteristics:

•Bachelor’s Degree in engineering and/or Purchasing, master’s degree in purchasing and international trade is preferred •Good understanding of the Hydro business •Ability to see around corners and be proactive •Ability to work independently to achieve targets and objectives •Ability and ownership to drive improvements and change with tangible results •Self-directed, detail-oriented, organized, and flexible •Capable to challenges the status quo and endless curiosity •Working experience in the Energy industry / Hydropower is a plus
