Ecoplexus develops, owns and operates renewable energy projects for the utility, and industrial markets in the U.S., Mexico, Japan, and Southeast Asia. Ecoplexus owns more than 200MWs of renewable generating assets and has 900 MWs between construction and pipeline in the U.S., and Internationally.

Representing over $1 Billion in project value, Ecoplexus is actively developing or buying renewable energy assets at every stage. The Company also provides operation and maintenance (O&M) and asset management (AM) services for all of its owned assets as well as for third-party investor/owners, many of which are Fortune 500 companies. 

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist’s primary role at Ecoplexus will support a broad range of pre-construction development activities on solar projects across the United States. This individual will work on discrete tasks at the direction of project development and engineering teams to support prospecting and due diligence efforts of new sites, preliminary site design efforts, resource evaluation, grid interconnection and other aspects of solar energy project development to ultimately fulfill the company's renewable energy aspirations and growth strategy within North America.

Job Duties

The successful candidate will:

•     Support GIS aspects of development activities for utility-scale solar energy projects from siting and feasibility through the start of construction
•     Coordinate with project developers to define key criteria for project site selection in various jurisdictions including parcel size, proximity to electrical infrastructure, type and voltage of adjacent electrical infrastructure, electrical infrastructure ownership, topography constraints, zoning constraints, environmental constraints, solar resource, wind and snow loads, etc.
•     Obtain parcel data and other GIS data/layers from public and for-purchase data sources.
•     Conduct GIS-screening analysis to identify potential parcels for solar development, review results with development staff, revise screening-analysis as necessary
•     Communicate results of GIS-screening analysis to Ecoplexus’ site acquisition experts. Provide related information to enable site acquisition staff to approach and acquire real estate rights.
•     Generate maps to depict constraints to site development, including the location of wetlands, property setbacks and setbacks from structures, slope constraints, etc.
•     Interface with Ecoplexus design and engineering team to facilitate conceptual solar farm layouts to detailed design and engineering.
•     Assist in project design and siting efforts utilizing GIS and other mapping software.

Minimum Qualifications:

•     Bachelor’s Degree in GIS-related field including Geography, Environmental Studies
•     Minor or certification in GIS is recommended. * 1 year or more GIS and mapping software experience. ESRI ArcGIS preferred.
•     Experience extracting data from online resources.
•     Experience with spatial analyst tools, creating and editing features, manipulating large data tables; proficient in vector and raster data processing.
•     Experience with ArcGIS ModelBuilder is a plus. * Comfortable viewing and interpreting satellite imagery.
•     Have familiarity with land use, wetlands, threatened and endangered species, soils and other environmental constraints in order to assess the viability of land for solar power plant development.
•     Have an interest or understanding of local and regional land use planning and policy process.
•     Be able to work in a multidisciplinary team setting, prioritizing ultimate project development goals.
•     As the need arises, be able to adapt and meet project demands and deadlines.
•     Detail-oriented, organized, and able to communicate effectively.
•     Results-oriented professional with the ability to work independently within a large matrixed organization while effectively interfacing with the various cross-functional employee groups.
