Accountant

This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly analytical Accountant who is looking for a hands-on Accountancy role with the opportunity to work with international accounting principles.

You will be a significant team player in a small finance team inIstanbul (Anatolian side), overseeing accounting activities for our Turkish branch.

Your impact will be seen in these and other ways:

• Ensure the timely and accurate posting, balancing and reconciliation of various general ledger accounts on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis
• Perform financial analysis of the department’s chart of accounts and financial statements by identifying and analyzing variances

• Make accounting adjustments through appropriate journal entries

• Close cooperation with business services team in UK

• Act as intermediary between Cummins SSC and local business operations
• Create monthly and annual reports for presentation to the Finance & Business Leaders
• Assist with the production of the monthly management accounts supporting papers and schedules
• Respond to inquiries received from management, internal and external auditors, Sarbanes-Oxley audit group and others regarding financial results, special reporting requests, etc.
• Examine a variety of financial statements and transactions for completeness, internal accuracy and conformance with accounting standards
• Support the Finance Manager on compliance and controls requests
• Manage incoming supplier invoices and all issues related to suppliers and invoices in cooperation with SSC
• Perform less complex accounting projects or collaborate with the team on more complex projects

Skills and Experience Required:

You will be successful in this role with the following experience:

• Relevant experience (minimum 2-3 years) in general ledger accounting and financial reporting
• Exposure in a multi-national business desirable
• Knowledge of US GAAP would be beneficial
• Flexibility and openness to use various international accounting principles
• Strong written and spoken communication skills in English and Turkish
• Excellent attention to details
• Curiosity and willingness to learn
• Outstanding communication skills with ability to balance different stakeholders’ requests
• Solution-oriented and persistent approach to daily tasks
• Ability to organize workload
• Work on initiatives with an eye for seeing opportunities to modify and improve processes
• Exceptional level of Excel skills

 Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

•  College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
