QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION

Qualifications / Requirements
 
  • Minimum of 5 years demonstrated quality and inspection experience.
  • Current certification as an AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) in conformance with the provisions of AWS QC1, Standard and Guide for Qualification and Certification of Welding Inspectors preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand specification and quality control procedures, structural fabrication drawings, and Bills of Materials.
  • Above average oral and written communication skills.  Ability to communicate with subcontractors, tech services, and project managers.
  • Creative thinker with ability to make decisions quickly and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Organized and highly detailed.
  • Willingness to work within deadlines.
  • Ability to work within a team setting in achieving Company growth goals.
  • Use of computer tools and software (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Pass a post offer non D.O.T. physical and Musculoskeletal Assessment
  • Pass a post offer non D.O.T. drug screen

Authority, Scope and Basic Function
 
This position is responsible for developing and implementing the quality processes related to the fabrication of Novum structural systems. Incumbent ensures the quality of the materials and fabrication processes to meet or exceed company and customer requirements.  Performs complex geometric dimensional inspections on in-process and finished fabrications, ensuring Novum quality standards and conformance to customer quality and specifications.
 
Essential Duties and Principal Responsibilities
 
  • Responsible for the quality of assigned project and/or task.
  • Inspect and check work in-process and approve materials prior to shipping.
  • Review and approve Material Certifications, Chemical Analysis, Mechanical Properties, and Test Reports for all material supplied.
  • Ensure that all Material Certifications, Chemical Analysis, Mechanical Properties, and Test Reports for assigned projects have been received.
  • Review and approve test and final inspection results/documentation.
  • In coordination with the Production Department perform inspections and test to insure quality and schedule.
  • Perform supplier site inspection and verification of company supplied materials as required.
  • Write nonconformance reports and ensure timely resolution to quality issues.
  • Work with Production and Tech Services Departments to develop quality standards and procedures.
  • Help research, develop, and follow through with product and material testing as required.
  • Coordinate resolution of drawing conflicts or errors with Tech Services in a timely manner and ensure drawing revisions are issued appropriately.
  • Confer with the Project Coordinator to maintain all information on the Project Detail Sheets.
  • Communicate back with Tech Services with constructive information on drawing improvements.
  • Establish and implement calibration procedures for welding, measuring, and testing equipment.
  • Maintain and coordinate all inspections and certifications on testing equipment.
  • Uphold and manage all components of the Quality Assurance Manual and organize inspections and yearly audits.
  • Execute and manage projects as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager
